The Printing Press Bar & Kitchen, the award-winning bar and restaurant on George Street, has introduced a new, seasonal, express set menu for easy lunches and pre-theatre dinners.

The Express Press offers a choice from four each of starters, main courses and desserts, and is priced £13.95 for two courses and £17.95 for three; it is available Monday to Thursday from 12.30pm throughout the afternoon and early evening until 7pm.

Inspired by Scotland’s natural larder, Executive Chef Colin Fleming has created a selection of seasonal dishes including: Smoked ham hock with cantaloupe melon, peas and mustard sauce, Sea bream with warm potato salad and hazelnuts, and the signature Printing Press trifle. The menu will change weekly and certain items such as the signature trifle will change daily, according to the fresh fruit delivered that morning.

Commenting on the new menu, Mike Lewis, General Manager of The Printing Press Bar & Kitchen, said,

We’ve put together a menu that combines the seasonal, Scottish focus we’re known for with a great price and an assurance of speed – perfect for a quick lunch and pre-theatre dinner.

Executive Chef Colin Fleming adds,

Our new Express Press menu offers a selection of our favourite dishes, with the focus on delivering the finest food in an efficient and timely style.

The Printing Press Bar & Kitchen is at 21-25 George Street in a listed Georgian townhouse. The restaurant’s name nods to the capital’s rich literary heritage: 25 George Street was home to the acclaimed novelist Susan Ferrier in the 1780s where Robert Burns was noted as a frequent visitor; while in 1840, records show one John Oliphant living there – Oliphant’s and Ferrier’s descendants together, founded Oliphant, Anderson and Ferrier, one of Scotland’s most prestigious publishing houses.

The new Express Press menu is available Monday to Thursday, from 12:30pm to 7pm, priced £13.95 for two courses and £17.95 for three courses.
